Joseph F. was born Aug. 30, 1827 with a twin brother Jacob J. who died young. Joseph F. was raised in Sangamon County, went with his sister Cornelia Hussey to Oregon, and was married May, 1853, in Yamhill County, to Julia A. Shortridge. They had nine living children. Eight of their children were born in Oregon. They reside near Nashville, Barton County, Missouri.
