Tony, age 62, passed away on Sunday at HospiceCare with his family by his side following a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born the son of Barney & Doris (Marx) Lazewski. Tony graduated from Antigo High School and then obtained a bachelor of English and geography from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. He then went on to receive a doctorate in geography from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. In 1977 Tony was united in marriage to Barbara Hassler in St. Louis, MO. For 25 years, taking no sick days, Tony worked for American Family Insurance as a property adjuster. He was also a former employee of the State Historical Society and in more recent years, a dedicated volunteer. Tony's passion was his family and being active in Boy Scouts. He was a proud Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver award recipient and Order of the Arrow Lodge Advisor. Tony was a great athlete and played hockey for 30 years. He was a humble and loyal man, who always obeyed the Scout Law. At all times, you could find Tony with a contagious smile and count on him to be a great listener. Most of all, Tony was the heart and soul of his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and son and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Tony is survived by his wife of 32 years, Barbara (nee Hassler); two daughters, Laura and Lisa; and father, Barney. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris (nee Marx) Lazewski. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Burke officiating.
