Gertryal Callison Spangler, 98, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at Bishop Drumm Care Center where she resided. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Dunn's Funeral Home. Burial will be at Norwalk Cemetery.
Gertryal was born the daughter of Jacob and Bessie Jenks Callison on August 6, 1905 near Cumming. Gertryal lived in Chicago for 20 years and southern California for three years , but most of her life she resided near Cumming where she retired from farm management.
She was a member of American Legion Auziliary, Des Moines Christian Women's Club, various Bible study groups and Farm Bureau. Gertryal attended Cumming Community Church and was secretary of Cumming School District for eleven years.
Gertryal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell Grant Spangler; son, Richard Goltry; daughter, Golden Poulain; two brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by daughters, Adrienne Moen of West Des Moines and Yvonne Della Rossa of Loma Linda, CA; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2004 at Dunn's Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or Cumming Cummunity Church.
