Gerome de Rollin
I am the daughter of Gerome de Rollin, aka Stanley Darrel Rollin. After studying art in Paris he attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco. He received a teaching credential from the University of California, Berkeley and was Chairman of the Art Department at Santa Monica College over 30 years until he retired. We lived in Malibu and his studio burned twice along with most of his paintings and sculpture from his student years, his teaching years and the period of time we lived in Mexico City. After retirement my mother and father lived in Spain and Nevada City. Paintings from this period, along with paintings that were in the posssession of others, are what remain. Myself, my children and my sister all have paintings as well as friends and other family members. He was a fine watercolorist but his oils were equally beautiful. I first learned to paint under his direction and have a degree in fine art, but will never have the technical skill that he possessed.
