She was previously employed with the Adjustment Agriculture Administration and later was a personnel technician with the Enoch Pratt Free Library, from which she was retired.
She was a past member of Clement Baptist Church and later Woolford Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Marsha Gayle Averette Morgan of Dundalk, Md.; a brother, John Roger Newton of Hurdle Mills; and two grandchildren, Matthew William Tabaka and Gretchen Tabaka.
