Son of Wiley W. and Judith Tapley Buckner. He was the brother of Tapley M., Micajah W., Mary, James M., Catherine, Tabitha Jane, Delilah, Elizabeth, Leonard, Edwin, and Martha Buckner. He enlisted in the Confederate States Army on December 15, 1862 in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia for three years or during the war with Co B 22 Battalion, Ga. Heavy Arty. during the Civil War. He died on August 30, 1863 at the age of 39 in Hospital No. 2 in Savannah Georgia and is buried at Fort Jackson, Savannah, Georgia. He married Miss Mariah on Sept. 5, 1852.
