Myrtice Velma Whitcomb Green, 90, of South Ponte Vedra Beach, died Aug. 10, 2004 at her home. She was born April 24, 1914 in Marengo County, Ala., and had lived in St. Augustine since first moving here in 1944. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church when it was located on Riberia Street, then on Arenta Street and finally where it is now located on Masters Drive. She was a member of First Baptist Church of San Mateo.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Craig Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. LeRoy Lewis, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home between 5 p.m.-8 p.m. today. Interment will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Owen E. Green and daughter, Betty Jean Green Crabtree.

She is survived by daughter, Joyce Garrett, and son-in-law, Ray Garrett, Sr. of San Mateo; daughter, Kay Garver, and son-in-law, Gordon B. Garver of South Ponte Vedra Beach; grandsons, Ray Garrett, Jr., Tucson, Ariz.; Freddy Garrett, St. Augustine, and Brian Crabtree, Knoxville, Tenn.; granddaughters, Karen Barringer, West Palm Beach; Ronna Bell, Palm Beach; Nancy Waynick, Detroit, Mich.; Kelly Mott, Jacksonville; Leslie Cabo, South Ponte Vedra Beach; and Amanda Garver, South Ponte Vedra Beach.

Mrs. Green was the great-grandmother of 16 and the great-great-grandmother of 7.

She leaves behind a brother, James Clyde Whitcomb of St. Augustine; a sister, Margaret Snow of Valdosta, Ga., and many nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. The family she leaves behind will miss her greatly, but rejoices in the knowledge of being reunited with Our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven.
