John H. Wentzel Sr., a former Reiffton service station owner-operator, died Friday afternoon in Berkshire Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Exeter Township, where he had been a patient for a week.
Wentzel, 75, of 45 Keystone Road, Exeter Township, was the husband of Helen R. (Rapp) Wentzel.
From 1965 to 1969, he owned and operated the former Johnnie's Reiffton Sunoco station.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John F. and Esther M. (Petsch) Wentzel.
Wentzel later was employed for seven and a half years as a diesel mechanic by the former Burgmeyer Brothers, Reading. He was last employed for four and a half years as a security guard by the former General Battery, now Exide Corp., retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Exeter Bible Church.
Wentzel is also survived by two sons, Donald J., Exeter Township, and John H. Jr., Earlville; and two daughters, Sara, wife of Ronald Chamuras, Reading, and Pauline, wife of Gary Hornberger, Birdsboro.
Other survivors include a brother, Harold, Tuckerton; and two sisters, Esther, widow of Raymond Shittler, Pricetown, and Dorothy, wife of Warren Lash, Temple, R. D. 1.
There are also nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Auman Funeral Home Reiffton. Burial will be in Spies Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township.
