Alaniz,Melissa Ann, 16, of Garden Grove,CA., passed awayon Monday July 30, 2007 at Children's Hospital of Orange. She had aggressively been fighting cancer for the last 27 months. At the CHOC hospital, shewas known throughout the staff members as "the girl with the big Colgate smile."
Treatmentafter treatments, good or bad, she was always smiling. Not only did Melissa love everyone around her, she had the fondness for animals. She had dreamed of becoming a veterinian and to help her in accomplishing this dream, she owned 2 dogs,3 cats and several fish. She was very determined and focused on completing her eduation. Mhad estabished a 4.0 GPA while attending Orange High School and being home-schooled. She was very involved with her studies up to her last admittance into CHOC. Melissa was a girl with a heart of gold. She never complained of her chemotherapy treatment or of the several surgeries she had endured in her battle aganist cancer.
Family and friends were truly inspired by Melissa's strength, hope, determination, and her refusal to give upon life. she had astrong faith in God and always believed in helping others whether it be in this worldor the next. In the days before her passing, Melissa made a statment for those who knew her to remeber: "The cancer may have taken my body and organs, but it didn't take me. God did, he needed me; plus Katie needs me to help her with all of the kids from CHOC."
Melissa will be missed greatly. The viewing will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary, Santa Ana,Thursday August 2, 2007 from 4pm - 8pm. Service August 3, 2007 at 9:30 am FAIRHAVEN MEMORIAL PARK
