Mrs. Nena Plunkett Davies, 87, of Winnfield, died Friday, March 16, 1979 in the local hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Davies was employed as a nurse at Winnfield General Hospital for many years before her retirement. She was a native of the Wheeling Community and descended from a pioneer Winn Parish family. In her early career she taught school and during World War II she was employed at the Minden ordnance plant. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Winnfield.

Services were held Monday at 2 p. m. in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Grayson Watson officiating. Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery near Wheeling.

Survivors include a son, Leslie Ray Davies, Sr., of Winnfield; a brother, Paul Plunkett of Atlanta; grandchildren Greggory E. Davies, Winnfield, Jackie D. Davies, New Orleans, Leslie Ray Davies, Jr., Alaska; Houston Spencer, Palm Springs, California, and Bettie Spencer Tasker, Chicago, Illinois; twelve great great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Davies was preceded in death by two daughters, Nena Marie Davies, Norma Davies Spencer Emory, and a son, Alexis Plunkett Davies.
