Shirley Mae Axelson, 83, Loving wife and mother, went to be with the Lord Friday June 5, 2009. Mrs. Axelson was a native of Chicago IL until 1946 then lived most of her life in Jacksonville, Fl. After raising 6 children she then worked for Internal Revenue Service, where she retired. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Arthur Axelson and her children, Norman (Melody) with 12 children and 13 grandchildren, Thomas (Mary) with 5 children, and Robert Axelson (Deborah) with 4 children and 7 grandchildren, Barbara Powell (David) with 4 children and 3 grandchildren, Susan Palmer with 1 child and legal guardian of 1, Debbie ( Kirkland) Chapin (Mike) with 2 children. Memorial Services will be held at Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church off Southside Blvd. on Wednesday, June 10th at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Arthur Axelson for the charity of his choice.
