Edith Allred Kearns, age 87, of Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro died Sunday, February 16, 2003 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.Mrs. Kearns was a native of the Grays Chapel Community and a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class, the Sunshine Club, the Senior Adult choir, the Rachel James Circle, and was a deaconess. She was past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Randolph Chapter #210 and a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was the widow of Jesse A. Kearns.She is survived by one daughter: Jesalyn K. Thomas of Asheboro, NC; one son: Joe W. Kearns of Asheboro, NC; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 18, 2003 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of Joe Kearns, 1673 Southwood Dr., Asheboro. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
