James N. Gabbard, 74, of Urbana passed away at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
He was born to James Nathan and Sarah Hillard Gabbard in Sadorus, Il. He married Vera McMahan on Aug. 26, 1955, in Marshall. She survives.
He is also survived by a son, James (Cindy) Gabbard of Urbana; a daughter, Brenda (Gary) Jones of Maynard, Masschusetts; three grandsons; three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
