R.A. HEMPHILL was born June 19, 1829, and died at the home of his daughter MRS. ALICE FOSTER, at Lucas, June 27, 1908, at the age of 79 years and sixteen days. He was united in marriage to ELIZABETH ZIMMER, Feby 19, 1849, whose death occurred six weeks after their marriage. On October 2, 1857, he was married to MRS. MARGARET FEE, of South Carolina. To them were born six children, three of whom are living, they are W.H. of East Las Vegas, New Mexico; N.B. of Oakley, and MRS. ALICE FOSTER, of Lucas, and where the deceased had made his home since the death of his wife three years ago.

He came to Lucas County in September, 1867, where he has since resided. He had been a member of the United Presbyterian Church since early manhood, and was a true Christian in all that the word implies. The funeral services were held at the U.P. Church, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. N. Evans, Pastor of the M.E. Church in the absence of their pastor, and the remains interred in the Waynick Cemetery.
