Jim was well known as an honest, down-to-earth and dependable farmer. Stories were told to his great grandsons 80 years after the fact by elderly men who had occasion to know first-hand of Jim's principles and how he lived them.
Jim had an operation 14 Nov 1928, died of bronchopneumonia in Knox City TX on 18 Nov 1928 and was buried in the Rochester Cemetery the next day.
His death certificate indicates he was 74y 5m 14d at death.
