Mrs. Baagoe died Friday evening in St. Joseph’s hospital in Sioux City where she had been a patient for a week. She had been in ill health for several months at her farm home west of Mapleton.
Rev. Elmer G. Otte, pastor of St. Peter’s church, conducted the funeral services.
Members of the church choir sang, “Sometime We’ll Understand”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Under His Wings”, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Robert Kahrs.
Pallbearers were Clarence Slentz, Roy Slentz, Kenneth Slentz, Vern Slentz, Willard Cannon and Anchor Osbgaard.
Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery under direction of the Duschl Funeral home.
Mrs. Baagoe was the youngest of 8 children born to Mr. and Mrs. William Scarborough. She was born May 6, 1880, in Omaha, Neb., where she received her education and musical training.
She was married February 21, 1907, to Mads J. Baagoe at Logan, Ia.
They established their home on one of the Peter Lamp farms near Mapleton and lived there for 7 years. In 1914 they moved to their own farm west of Mapleton, known as Gredenwald farm. Mr. Baagoe died March 28, 1944.
Mrs. Baggoe was a charter member of St. Peter’s church in Mapleton and a member of the Women’s Guild of the church. She served as a member of the building committee for the erection of the present church building.
She was active in all church affairs, serving as pianist and in other capacities until her health compelled her to relinquish some of her work.
Surviving are a son, James Baagoe, who resides on the home farm west of Mapleton, and several nephews and nieces.
