George Leslie Darrington, 95, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Willow Glen Nursing and Rehab Center in Brigham City, Utah.

He was born on June 27, 1913 in Declo, Idaho, a son of Peter Clark and Emma Craner Darrington. Leslie married Lila Cook on December 18, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1973. Les married May Spencer Larson on June 11, 1974 in the Provo LDS Temple.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served in the North Western States Mission from 1935 to 1937. He also served as a stake missionary, stake Sunday School president, and District President of Logan Temple Genealogical Mission. Les and his wife, May, served as missionaries in the Arizona Mesa Temple. Les also was a member of the Lions Club, Golden Spike Committee and Sons of the Utah Pioneers.

Les retired from the Box Elder School District, retiring as a teacher for the homebound and hospitalized children. He also was a farmer and worked for the USU Extension Services. He enjoyed playing games, reading, genealogy, watching all BYU sports and boating at Bear Lake with his family.

Surviving are his wife, May, three daughters, Loila (Dale) Hendrickson, Corinne; LaWana (Joseph) Osborne, Layton; LaNae (Tim) Frodsham, Portland, OR; five stepchildren, Jim (Julie) Larson, Bountiful; Jerry (Jan) Larson, Alpine; Linda (Jim) Carter, Salt Lake City; Bruce- deceased (Karen) Larson, Sandy; Brent-deceased (LeVae) Larson Heiner, Thatcher; 45 grandchildren and 80 great grandchildren; one sister, Leona Larson, Lewiston, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Lila and three siblings, Vera McBride, Mary Clark, and Bill Darrington.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 12 Noon at the Brigham City 12th Ward Chapel, 620 North 300 East. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Brigham City 12th Ward Relief Society Room.
