From the Cleburne Morning Review, Sunday, July 9, 1911, p. 4:
A Well Known Johnson County Man Dies at Fort Worth on Saturday at 3:30 O'clock.
On Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock Dr. Jim Francis, who had been partially paralyzed for eight years, and after the last several months had been in a very serious condition, died at his home in Fort Worth. At his bedside were his mother, Will Francis, Mrs. Otho Bishop, Chas. Francis, of East Texas; Rat Taylor, of this city, and several others.
Dr. Francis was a member of the I.O.O.F. Home Circle and the Woodmen of the World. The latter organization will have charge of the remains and will conduct the funeral on Monday immediately following the arrival of the Sante Fe train from Fort Worth, at 9:05 a.m. The pall bearers will be appointed by the W.O.W. and the regular ritualistic ceremony will be given.
Dr. Francis moved to Fort Worth about twelve months ago, and seemed to be getting along fairly well for a time, under skilled treatment, he took a turn for the worse and continued to decline until death relieved him of further suffering.
He was well and favorably known throughout Johnson county, and his death will be greatly regretted. The many friends of the family will join this paper in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
