CANTY
Mr. Kell William Canty, 85, of Pascagoula, Miss. died Saturday, October 21, 2000. A lifelong resident of Pascagoula, he was born Feb 11, 1915 to the late William Irving and Lena Grant Canty. Mr. Canty retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in 1968, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pascagoula. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Lynn Canty; two brothers, Owen Canty and Richard "Dick" Canty, and a sister, Jessie Canty Flanagan.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Ruby Wells Canty; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William "Bill" Canty and Ann Canty of Oxford, and Bobby Canty of Shawnee, Okla; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Charles Gilder of Morgan City, La., Frances and Gary Greenough of Mobile, Ala, Gina and Fred Powell of Nashville, Tenn., and Paula Canty Haygood of Mobile, Ala.; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Wilson Woodall of Gautier, a brother, Harold "Bub" Canty of Pascagoula, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Canty of Sumrall and Lorene Canty of Meridian; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000 from 5-8 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 23, at 10 a.m. from First Baptist Church of Pascagoula with Dr. Rex Yancey, the Rev. Dennis Ray Smith and the Rev. Charles Gilder officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Pascagoula.
Pallbearers will be James Kell Canty, Keith Gilder, Paul Gilder, Dane Haygood, David Sparks, Rob Bright, Brad Shirley, Jareed Rowell and Jeff Martin.
