George Washington Potts lived in the Pleasant Glade Community in 1880, south of Big Bear Creek in Precinct 3. He was a veteran of the Confederate Army.

Mr. Potts served in Co. H, 28 Mississippi Cavalry for a term of three years. He was a First Sergeant, and was wounded at Franklin, Tennessee. His official records in the National Archives say he was a Third Sergeant who enlisted on January 8, 1862 at Aberdeen, Monroe County,
Mississippi. He was elected Second Lieutenant on May 23, 1863.

George W. Potts married Eleanor Jane Blount on August 11, 1863, according to records at ancestry.com, but no place of marriage is given. She was born at Winona, Carroll County, Mississippi on July 2, 1846.

He has no standing, readable headstone in any northeast Tarrant County cemetery.
