Dr. Ross Schlich, 72, of Springfield died Friday at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.
He was the son of the late Adoph and Elizabeth Rossel Schlich. Dr. Schlich was a member of the Department of Anesthesia at Memorial Medical Center.
Surviving are his wife, Molly; two sons, William of Springfield and Shaun of Atlantic Highland, NJ; one daughter, Lisa Schlich O'Hara of Morganville, NJ; one brother Adolph of Okawville; one sister Angela Stock of Okawaville; three grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Barbara Cemetery Okawville.
Renner Funeral Home, Belleville is in charge of arrangements.
Dr Schlich leaves the four children from his first marriage to Clara Frances Boyd to honor his memory. It was their grandfather Dr Tully Boyd, who served as Dr. Schlich's mentor and made it possible financially for Rossel to finish medical school. They are Michael and Kevin of Chicago; Amy Bertorelli of Malibu, Calif. and Vicki Doetsch of OFallon, Ill.
