After her husband's death, she taught in Galveston's Ball High School from 1934 until her retirement in 1959. While living in Galveston, she lived at Miss Anna Batt's house until 1938, and at Miss Alma Wells' house until 1958. She and her daughter Laura moved to Sacramento, California to live with her other daughter, Benevelyn and her husband Martin, in May of 1966.
