Mrs. Ackerman, 85, of Fort Myers, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, she lived in Meridian for many years, meeting and marrying her husband Bill in 1946.
Anne moved to Georgia in 1966, and then to Fort Myers 18 years ago, where she remained until her death.
Anne was a treasure to all who knew her. Despite an eleven year battle with cancer she was known for her optimistic and kind heart and her gentle soul.
Survivors include her daughter Carolyn Helliesen and her husband, Doug, of Key West, Fla.; her son, Joel Ackerman and his wife, Dee, of Cumming, Ga.; and granddaughters, Tovah Choudhury and Carly Helliesen.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society Florida Keys Unit, 1010 Kennedy Drive, Ste. 306, Key West, Fla. 33040, or to the Sisterhood of Temple Beth Israel.
