Violet Pearl Dirck, the daughter of Charles Edward and Violet Gladys (Niceshwander) Sharp, was born on September 6, 1914, in Kanorado, Kansas. She passed away on June 15, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 9 days.
Pearl as she is known graduated from Superior High School and took bookkeeping courses and basic training in computers thru an International School of Correspondence after graduating. She was united in marriage to Herbert LeRoy Ward in Beloit, Kansas on June 14, 1930. This union was blessed with a son, Bruce. Herbert passed away on March 14, 1962. She married Jesse Dirck, whom she later divorced. She moved to Superior from Pryor, Oklahoma in 1972.
Pearl was a homemaker and nurse aide. She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church, serving as secretary-treasure, and head deaconess of the church, she was also a member of the senior citizens. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and knitting. She loved to sew and was known as a seamstress who could make anything, she also enjoyed her flowers and gardening.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, her son Bruce, six brothers, William, Harold, Victor, Eugene, Veryl, and Delbert Sharp; one sister, Elizabeth Ruth; one grandson, Bruce Leonard Ward, Jr. and one great-grandson.
Survivors include four grandsons: John T. Ward, Leonard Leroy Ward, Larry Lynn Ward and Lonnie Lee Ward; one granddaughter, Linda Leeann Ayishah Qassas and 15 great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 19, 2006 at 10:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Elder Phil Troudt officiating. Music was "In The Garden" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", with Carol Shambaugh as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist.
A memorial has been established and may go in care of the family.
