Mrs. Goodson was born in Ozark on August 14, 1926. She was the daughter of the later Mr. Homer Robert, Sr. and Mrs. Mallie Skipper Woodham. She graduated from Dale County High School (now know as Carroll High School) in Ozark in 1944. In her earlier years, her work history included V.J. Elmore Stores, Cowikee Mills for 10 years and 30 years of dedicated service with the Ozark City Board of Education from which she retired. She worked in the central office preparing payrolls and keeping books for the schools in the City School System. Maxaline married H.L. Goodson on September 28, 1952. They were very active and faithful members of Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years where she played the piano and organ, sang in the choir, worked in the church nursery, helped with young people's choir and Vacation Bible School in the summers. In 1996, she and H.L. joined Ozark Baptist Church.
Throughout many years, Maxaline played the piano and organ for hundreds of weddings, funerals, gospel singings, social events, and nursing home programs. She played for Holman Funeral Home when they were established in a home several years before the funeral home was built. Over the last 20 years, she played for services at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.
