Donald Eugene Aleo was the son of Leo Vito and Theda Bell Aleo, brother of Duane Antonio Aleo, Ronald Vito Aleo, Rosa Joy (Aleo) Risk, Frances Etta Aleo and Merry JoAnn (Aleo) Ostrander. Donald and his wife Virginia Chadwick Aleo-Gibbs were the parents of Cindy (Aleo) Dowding, Ralph Aleo, Larry Aleo, Bob, Aleo, Mike Aleo and Sam Aleo.

His brother Duane Antonio Aleo just recently passed away on May 15, 2009. His sister Rosa Joy (Aleo) Risk passed away November 3, 2004 and is buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
