THE DEATH MRS. CHOWNING JONES FORD HERE ON FRIDAY.

"The entire community was shocked and grieved when the sad news was announced last Friday morning that Mrs. Chowning Jones Ford, age 60, had died at her home on North Race Street. She had been in ill health several months.

"She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Jones and was born August 31, 1877, in the Rockbridge section of Monroe county. She later moved to Barren county and taught in the schools at Hiseville for some time.

"Mrs. Ford was one of the most highly respected citizens of Glasgow and was loved by a host of friends throughout the county. Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, her years were enriched with many activities which have contributed to the uplift of the community.

"She had a lovable personality, and her many acts of kindness and sympathy will forever be cherished by all who knew of her sterling qualities and saintly characteristics. She was a devout member of the First Christian Church, this city, having become a member in early womanhood. All her life she had been active in religious circles and gave both of her time and influence to this work.

"She is survived by her husband, Mr. W. J. Ford; three daughters, Miss Christine Ford and Mrs. Nelson Nuckols, both of this city; Mrs. James Woodward, Smiths Grove, R.F.D.; three sons, Willie and Edgar Lee Ford, Glasgow, and Paul Howard Ford, student at The Citadel, Charleston, S.C.

"Funeral services were conducted at the First Christian Church here Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. T. H. Alderson in charge. Burial was in the Hiseville Cemetery."
