NEW WINDSOR- Walter McNeil, 66, of Moline, a former New Windsor resident, died Sunday at 1 a.m. at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Flack, Rio, where he was spending the weekend. He was born Jan. 2, 1888 at New Windsor and was married to Hilda Tornquist of New Windsor March 25, 1900, at Aledo. They lived on farms in the New Windsor and Orion communities until 1948 when they went to Moline. He was employed by the John Deere Co. in Moline. Mrs. McNeil died in 1953. Survivors are two sons, Eugene of Orion and Vernon of New Windsor; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Trunmel of East Moline, Mrs. Edward Nicholson of Moline and Mrs. Flack; two brothers, Tom of Cable and George of Galesburg; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A sister and three brothers also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the New Windsor Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Henry Stamm of Rio. Burial will be in the New Windsor Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 o'clock this evening at the Knox-Wallin Funeral home in Alpha and Tuesday after 10 a.m. at the church.
