VENETA - Graveside servicess for Dan G. Gates, a life-long resident of this area, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Gates Cemetery at Crow.

Mr. Gates died Friday at the Veterans Hospital in Portland. He was 73.

The Rev. Wesley McCulloch, Minister of the Veneta Olivet Baptist Church will officiate at the service. Poole-Larsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gates was born Nov. 11, 1889 at Crown. He had lived on McCutcheon Avenue in Veneta for the past 19 years. He was a retired logger and mill worker.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Gates, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Henry Gates, of Veneta; four sisters, Maggie Bowman, Eugene; Frances Watkins, Seattle, Wash.; Pearl Housholder, Reeedsport; Eva Hartwig, Crow; and many nieces and nephews.
