Clinton MO - Woodford Alpheus Snapp was born June 2, 1847, in the state of
Tennessee, and departed this life March 4, 1925, at his home in Montrose. His
age was 77 years, 9 months and 2 days. He was married to Sarah J. Lacey, Sept.
29, 1874, who survives. To this union were born eight children, six sons and two
daughters - A. A. Snapp, of Norwich, Kans.; Mrs. J. S. Sargent of Montrose; J.
A. Snapp, of Windsor; Rev. G. B. Snapp of Bunceton; Mrs. Wm. Crouch; near
Clinton; Fred Snapp, of Pingree, Idaho, and Walter and Lee Snapp, at home. He
also leaves 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers and five
sisters, and a number of other relatives and friends, who mourn his departure.
He was converted in his young manhood and united with the Cumberland
Presbyterian church. Later he united with the Baptist church and at the time of
his death he and his wife both belonged to the LaDue Baptist church. He had
lived northeast of Montrose, many years, but two weeks previous to his death he
bought property and moved to Montrose. He was our own personal friend, a good
husband, a kind, wise and generous father. We have known him for more than 20
years and it had been our privilege to be his pastor for a number of years. One
had to be acquainted to enjoy him best. The funeral was preached by the writer
at Teays chapel at 2:30 p.m., last Friday afternoon. Burial in the cemetery near
by. - J. M. Ramsey.
