Luis Bailon, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, of natural causes at his daughter's home.

He was born Aug. 25, 1914, in Gila, N.M. He was a butcher for Union Packing Co. in Vernon for 25 years. He was an Angel baseball fan. He sold candy at church functions and became known as the "Candyman." He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Mr. Bailon was preceded in death by his brother, Ezekial Bailon, in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Maldonado Bailon of Murrieta; daughter, Delilah Schaub of Murrieta; sons Samuel Bailon of Cypress, Louie Bailon Jr. of Wannetka and David Bailon of Cerritos; sisters Lucy Provencio of Mesa, Ariz., Betty Johnson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Annie Saucedo of Clifton, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory with the Rev. Phil Saenz officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.

Miller-Jones is handling arrangements.
