Veteran of the Pacific Theater in World War II.
Life long resident of Pike County.

Retired Vice President of Bank of Amity where he continued to serve on the Board of Directors until the time of his death. The former director of the Pike County Memorial Hospital, member emeritus of the Pike County Soil Conservation Board, active in American Legion Post #104, on the board of the Glenwood Cemetery Association, served on the Democratic Central Committee in Pike County for more than 30 years and former Election Commissioner Pike County.

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Lillian Humphries Maxey of Benton; two sons, Joe M. Maxey of Benton and Danny H. "Buddy" Maxey of Rosboro; five grandchildren; brother, Kenneth C. Maxey of Daisy.
