Bowman, March 21 - Marion Joseph Smith, 64 year old farmer and dairyman, died at the Orangeburg hospital today after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Southern Methodist church in Bowman, with the Rev. Charlie Huggins officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Eaddy and the Rev. Luther Caldwell. Burial will be in the Bowman cemetery. Mr. Smith was born in Orangeburg county, a son of the late Richard J. and Sally Ann Stroman Smith. He was a member of the Southern Methodist church and the local Ruritan club. Surviving are the widow, the former Miss Edith Cole, of Turbeville; a daughter, Mrs. Archie Hughes, Jr., of Cordova; two sons, Marion J. Smith, Jr., of Bowman and Terrill Smith, of Columbia; a brother, Dr. B. T. Smith, of Bowman; a sister, Mrs. J. C. Evans, of Orangeburg; and a grandson.
