William Paul Habhegger, Jr., 87, of Blackhoof Township, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton.

He was born July 21, 1916 in Blackhoof Township to William and Anna (Peterson) Habhegger, Sr. He attended Riverside School through the 8th grade and was a 1935 graduate of Carlton High School. William married Adeline Selen on September 20, 1939 in Carlton.

Bill was employed by Diamond Brands as a foreman, supervisor and mechanic for 34 years, retiring in 1978. He also worked for a number of years as a part-time mechanic at John Duffy Motors in Carlton.

Bill was a former member of Moose Lodge 1274 in Cloquet, a member of A.A. since 1966 and helped establish the Alano Club in Cloquet. He wrote the "Uncle Billy" column that was published for many years in the Pine Knot and Cloquet Journal and enjoyed dancing and potato gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline on February 1, 2003; an infant son, Paul and three sisters, Evelyn Lavoy, Tina Selen and Caroline Doddridge.

Bill is survived by one son, Dean (Barbara) Habhegger of Barnum; four daughters, Nona Thornblad of Hinckley, Karen Morabito of Bedford Hills, NY, Penny (Alan) Keay of Barnum and Nichal (Tim Vener) Habhegger of Barnum; a sister, Wilma Ziebarth of Wrenshall; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 21, 2004 in Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet, MN. Interment was in Elim Lutheran Cemetery, Blackhoof Township. If preferred, memorials may be made to the Alano Club, Cloquet, MN.
