Ellen M Smith was born in the Hazleton area of Pennsylvania in 1892. She was the daughter of Daniel Asa and Julia Lou Hauze Smith. In the early 1900s the family moved to Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. As a girl she worked in the mills there.
In 1911 Ellen married Titus William Stine. The couple had five children: Levada Evelyn, Florence Ellen, Harold Titus, Glen Julian, and Julia Ruth. The family resided in Allentown and Bethlehem, PA.
Titus died in 1946, following which Ellen lived for many years with her daughter Julia in Bethlehem. She enjoyed collecting and needlepoint. Ellen died in 1973 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery.
