Orla Emmett Asher, 84, Waldron, died at W. S. Major Hospital in Shelbyville at 9:15 a.m. Monday, where he had been a patient since June 7 after injury in an auto accident near St. Paul.
Mr. Asher was born February 1, 1890 in Gosport, the son of Charles and Lillie Dell (Baker) Asher. He was married to Floy June Lewis on February 25, 1913, and she died January 5, 1974. He was a retired farmer in Shelby and Rush counties, having lived near Milroy at one time. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four children, a son, Lyle M. Asher, Waldron; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Naomi) Martin, Connersville, Mrs. Loren (Helen) Sargent, Odon and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Lester, Spencer; a brother, Herbert Asher, Milaca Minn., a sister, Mrs. Avis Stierwalt, Martinsville; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son (Gerald), a daughter (Maxine), and a sister (Zella Asher) preceded him in death.
