Maybelle "Granny" Swilley Whitley
Mrs. Maybelle Whitley of "Warner Robins died Tuesday, August 10, 1999, at Houston Medical Center, Warner Robins, Ga. She was 78.
Mrs. Whitley was born June 10, 1921, in Ocilla, Ga., the daughter of Cager Swilley and Virginia Paulk Swilley.
Mrs. Whitley was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church of Warner Robins, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband Varnell Whitley.
Survivors include tow daughters, Bonnie Spence of Warner Robins and Janice McCranie Deaver of Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Kelton Whitley of Warner Robins and Marshall Whitley of Atlanta; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ellen Murray of Ocilla and Molly Vickers of Ambrose.
Services were held at Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church of Irwin County on Friday, August 13, 1999 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Phil Bryant and Elder Gerald Proctor officiating.
Interment was at Brushy Creek Cemetery.
The funeral director was McCullough Funeral Home of Warner Robins and Paulk Funeral Home of Ocilla was in charge of local arrangements.
Grand daughter of Isom Swilley and Mary Ann Harper.
