Alta Himmel Brady, 91, of Enoch, went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2008, in Summersville Extended Care Center, Summersville. Born on March 17, 1917, at Enoch, she was the daughter of Melvery and Juditha Workman.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Day Brady; five brothers, five sisters, and one great-grandson.

Alta was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, and attending Church. She was a member of the Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Curtis Workman of Concord, NC, Otto Workman of Enoch, Charles Brady of Enoch, and Hollie Brady of Summersville; daughter, Evelyn McGlothlin of Clay; brothers, Alton Workman of Cowen and Hollie Workman of Indian Trail, NC; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, October 10, 2008, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Ministers Kenneth Adkins and Wayne Litton officiating. Burial will follow in the Ramsey Cemetery, Enoch
