When William was 7, his family moved to Felix Township, Grundy County, Illinois. His father William died in 1864 and his mother Lucy married William Brooks that same year. Six years later,some members of the family are in Pawnee Township and Lucy shows last name of Hall with husband Thomas.William then shows up in Auburn and spent the rest of his life there with his wife Eliza. He worked as a stone mason and a teamster.
Auburn , April 19 , 1923. William Lyons , 74 years old , died at 12:50 p.m. at his home here , after a long period of illness. He is survived by his wife , Eliza Lyons and a daughter Mamie Wason of Springfield.
Auburn , April 21 - Funeral services for William Lyons , 74 , who died Thursday , will be held at 2:30 pm tomorrow at the family residence in Auburn , Rev. Mr. Wood of the Auburn M.E. church officiating. Interment will be made in Auburn Cemetery. Further info is contained in the U.S. , Death and Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947. Mother's maiden name is Lucy Delight Frary , not Ferrey.
