Lewis was a son of David Creager and Catherine Wagner or Waggoner. He appears in the 1870 census as age 8, and in 1880 as 18.

The family moved to Union City area of Darke Co. when he was a small child. Lewis married Maggie (Rapp) Angel on Aug. 15, 1885 in Darke Co.

[Note: His death certificate says Wiltsie Cemetery under "place of burial, cremation, or removal". Undertaker, W P. Lamb. The cemetery records apparently do not show burial there for Lewis and Margaret.]

Death certif. also gave his age as 73 and said birthplace Starke Co. rather than Darke. It did not give names of parents.
