On December 9, 1857, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, Elizabeth married George Baker Hillis (1828-1899), born in Indiana. George was a son of Abraham Alan Hillis (1799-1868) and Elizabeth Peck (1803-1885), both born in Kentucky.
George and Elizabeth settled into a life of farming in Putnam County, Indiana. This family had six children, all born in Indiana: Mary Jane Hillis-Flint (1858-1928), William Allen Hillis (1860-), Sarah Ellen Hillis-Allen (1862-1920), Emma Elizabeth Hillis-Browning (1866-1936), George Henry Hillis (1870-1935), and Margaret Mae Hillis-O'Hair (1872-1930).
Elizabeth's husband died in 1899 and she went to live with her son George and his wife in Greencastle, Indiana. Elizabeth died Feb 28, 1907, in Greencastle. Both she and her husband are buried in the Brick Chapel Cemetery.
