Mary Evelyn Johnson, 85, a resident of Clarkdale, died at her home April 10. She was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Greenfield, Ohio, to John and Luella (Miller) Rowe.
She was a graduate of Chiilcothe High School, following which she attended schooling to become a cosmetologist. After her education she remained in Ohio and became owner and operator of her own beauty salon for 26 years.
Mary was a member of the Methodist Church, and she also attended the Assembly of God Church. She was a Missionette Leader, and a 50-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi. Mary loved collecting dolls and became a member of the Doll Club, in which she remained for 25 years.
In 2001, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Johnson. She leaves behind her son Tim Johnson of Ohio; her daughter, Tonita Hauk with her husband Tim of Arizona; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at the Cottonwood Assembly of God Church on Monday, April 16, at 10 a.m. Following services, Mary will be buried at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.
