He grew up in Brainerd and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1978 and attended Brainerd Community College. He worked as a mechanical field engineer for Cherne Contracting Corp., based out of Minneapolis, for 12 years and six years as an operator with Tennessee Valley Authority. He loved fishing, hunting and sports.
He is survived by his father, Douglas Goninan (Beryl), of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brothers, Rick (Mary Carol) Goninan, of St. Louis, Mo., Mike Goninan, of Baxter; sister, Jana (Paul) Pernula, of Brainerd; two nieces; two nephews; and his grandmother, Genevieve Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcia Goninan; grandparents, Clyde
and Mabel Goninan; great-grandparents, Burt and Lydia Peterson. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral.
