Mrs. J. T. Powell Dies, Rites Held Tuesday

Last rites for Mrs. J. T. Powell, Sr., 78, of Brinson, who died suddenly of a heart attack, Sunday, May 20, were held Tuesday, May 22 at 4 p. m.

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. A. J. Rich of Decatur County, Mrs. Powell was a life-long resident of Brinson. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, J. T. Powell and Curtis Powell, of Brinson; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Earp and Miss Louise Powell of Brinson; two brothers, T. E. Rich, Sr., of Bainbridge and Judge P. D. Rich, Sr., of West Bainbridge and one sister, Mrs. W. J. Bush of Colquitt.

Also surviving are ten grand-children and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverends Jim Wiley, Monroe Dyches and R. S. Lemons officiating.

Active pallbearers were: W. C. Sims, Perry Rich, Jr., W. G. Powell, Z. H. Bridges, John Watts, Lloyd Rich, Jr. and C. Ross Rich.

Honorary pallbearers included: J. R. Dukes, H. H. Brinson, Jr., Burson Bridges, W. W. Hodges, Olen Hodges, J. E. Conkle, J. P. Mitchell, Kenneth Hodges, Hardy Powell, E. C. Durham, H. B. Durham, W. B. Jackson, Harry Bell, C. P. Eagerton, Homer Powell, Jim Lane, D. B. Hodges, Ralph Baggerly, Dr. Earl Dupree, James King, Wilmer Godby, C. T. Alexander, W. C. Brown, J. B. Mills, R. E. Bridges and Bill Cummings.

Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery with Ivey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
