EMPORIA GAZETTE
The funeral of Mrs. E. G. Diltz, who died at her home, five miles northeast of Emporia yesterday, was held at the home this morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. J.B. Mackenzie of the Grace Methodist Church, conducted the services. Interment was made in Upper Dry Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Diltz died at 8 o'clock yesterday morning from a complication of diseases and because of which she had been bedfast for the past month. Her maiden name was Eliza Jane Riggle. She was born in Ohio, January 16, 1853, and moved to Knoxville, Iowa, with her parents when a child. She grew to womanhood there and was married to E.G. Diltz in 1871. Sometime after their marriage, they moved to Graham, Mo., where they lived twenty-five years. They came to Lyon County from Holt County, Missouri, three years ago.
Besides her husband, she is survived by ten children. The children are Gaylord Diltz, Skidmore, Mo.; William Diltz, Plymouth; Mrs. T. J. Willis, Richfield, Idaho; Mrs. Nellie Stacy, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Pearl Lindville, Barnard; Mrs. G.A. Cunningham, Sedalia, Mo.; Mrs. Pete Diltz, Mrs. Henry Allen, Emporia; Mrs. John Beyer, and Mrs. Pete Beyer, Plymouth. She also is survived by her mother, Mrs. Julia Riggle, and a brother, Edwin Riggle, of Maryville, Mo.
(note: J.B. Mackenzie is a brother to, Marsha's, ggreat grandfather, on paternal side.) Kind of interesting.
