Pierson Progress, 15 December 1949, page 1: Funeral services for Chester Arthur Bare were held Wednesday afternoon, December 14, 1949, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Pierson with Rev. E. Hutchinson officiating. Burial was in the Rock Branch Cemetery. Mr. Bare made his home at the Mission Hotel at 922 - 4th St. in Sioux City the past three years. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Bare, a legless man, traveled about in a wheeled platform and had been moving along on the 4th Street sidewalk only a short time before having been stricken. Survivors include a brother, E.F. Bare of Pasadena, California, formerly of Cherokee and Pierson. The deceased was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside awaiting arrangements and was brought to the Osborn Funeral Home on Tuesday.
