Wilma E. King, 80, of Ozark, aunt of Judy Thornton of Clarksville, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in a Clarksville nursing home.


A native of the White Oak Community, she was a daughter of the late Eric and Vera Collins King, member of the White Oak Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, and director of the Duncan Cemetery for approximately 30 years. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, a master's degree from the University of Arkansas, and was a retired school teacher having taught for 27 years with most of those years at Ozark. She was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Vaught.


Other survivors are two sisters, Gippa Kendall of DeWitt and Imogene Trichell of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three nieces, Jane Hollingshead and Anna Woodruff, both of Tulsa, Okla., and Stacey Pomeroy of Owasso, Okla.; one nephew, Ray Kendall of Huntsville, Ala.; seven great-nephews; four great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews.


A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Lance Jones of Clarksville officiating. The body was cremated.
