Dale B. Arthur
Dale B. Arthur, of Sweet, formerly of Garden Valley, died Sunday, July 12, 1998 in Horseshoe Bend.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m on Friday, July 17, at the Sweet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m.
Dale was born June 14, 1943 at Emmett, a son to Ronald and Nellie (Young) Arthur. He grew up in the Sweet-Ola area and attended high school in Emmett. He then began logging, and worked falling trees until he joined the Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam Era. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the Sweet area and logged for Pat Carlock. He had driven log truck since the mid-1970's hauling to Emmett, Horseshoe Bend and Cascade.
He enjoyed riding his mules and horses. He liked to pan for gold, hunt and fish when he had time. Dale had a great sense of humor and along with his quick wit he could always make you laugh. His dream was to buy a little farm and two weeks ago had purchased just the place at Sweet.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 17 years, Joyce Haken of Sweet; two daughters, Angie and husband, Mike Davies and their daughter, Madison all of Boise, and Janel Haken of Sweet; a son, Brian Haken and his wife, Sheltie also of Boise; a brother, Ron Arthur of Cascade; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents:a sister:and two nephews, Doug and Dusty Saxton.
