Amanda Ellen (went by Ellen) Holder was the fourth of eight known children of Henry Holder (1807-1866) and Anna Elisabeth Butner Holder (1804-1887), who married 12 Jul 1830 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.
Ellen married John Gambold (1834-1863), who presumably died while serving with an Indiana regiment during the Civil War. Ellen and John were the parents of two known children, namely:
1. Edward Henry Gambold (1862-1919)
2. Lillie F. Gambold Beckel (c1866-1887)
