"Mr. Allen was born in Sandwich, Mass.; removed to Johnstown, N.Y. early in the present [19th] century. He was a cabinet maker. He was among the earliest of the patriots to take up arms in the Revolutionary struggle; was one of the 150 defenders of Concord against the 800 British soldiers, Apr 19, 1775, and had other service in behalf of his country."
